| A fine late 18th Century English cylinder in a gold consular case. Full plate fire gilt movement, the gilt dust cover pierced to reveal the table of the cock and silver regulator disc. Fusee and chain, round pillars. Pierced and engraved masked cock with large diamond endstone in a blue steel setting. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. Polished steel cylinder, large brass escape wheel. Signed white enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, blue steel hands. Plain 18 carat consular case, the bezel and back sharing the same hinge. Engraved with a sword and the motto "I Dare" below, maker's mark "VW", | ||

| A very good example of a late 18th Century English cylinder. John Leroux, free of the clockmakers company 1781 - 180. An eminent maker, he was one of the first to adopt the lever escapement with all the impulse on the escape wheel teeth. |
