Index No. A7322 Early Swiss Silver Pair Cased Alarm
An early 18th Century Swiss single handed verge alarm with silver champleve dial in silver repousse pair cases.  Full plate gilt fusee movement with ratchet and click barrel setup between the plates, square baluster pillars.  Finely pierced and engraved bridge cock , plain three arm steel balance with blue steel spiral hairspring.  Pierced and engraved plate for the silver regulator disc.  Crown wheel alarm mechanism with steel contrate and crown wheel.  Engraved resting barrel to the alarm train.  Double headed hammer striking on a bell in the case.  The two trains wound through the silver champleve dial with Roman numerals.  Single decorative blue steel hand for the hours and another to set the alarm time.  Silver pair cases, the inner pierced and engraved, silver pendant and stirrup bow.  Pierced and engraved repousse outer depicting two soldiers meeting, four cartouches around the edge, two of portraits and the other two animals.

An interesting Swiss alarm still using only a single hour hand in the early part of the 18th Century.  Probably Louis Benjamin Macaire working in Geneva 1689 - 1733.
