| A mid 18th Century Irish verge in silver pair cases. Full plate fire gilt movement with square baluster pillars. Pierced and engraved masked cock, pierced and engraved foot and plate for the silver regulator disc. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. White enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, gold beetle and poker hands. Substantial silver pair cases, silver pendant and bow, maker's mark "AON" in a rectangle (only in the inner case, no other marks in either). | ||

| In excellent overall condition. Watches made in Ireland rather than English manufactured just retailed in the country are uncommon, especially those from the 18th Century. Robert Rose - Dublin 1752 - 69. The casemaker's mark is that of Dublin Goldsmith Arthur O'Neill whose son continued in the trade with the same mark. |
