| A very rare late 18th Century continental seconds beating centre seconds calendar with Wall's escapement in a gilt consular case. Full plate gilt going barrel movement with gilt dust cover. Finely pierced and engraved bridge cock with steel coqueret, slow beating plain three arm gilt balance with
blue steel spiral hairspring. Silver regulator dial with blue steel indicator. Very rare "Wall's" escapement. Two escape wheels of thirty teeth are geared together and act directly on the staff of the balance. Mounted in slightly different planes each engages in the same vertical slot cut in the balance staff which measures approximately 1 mm in diameter. One escape wheel therefore acts to give impulse to the balance in one
direction and the other in the opposite direction. The arbor on one of the escape wheels is mounted centrally and carries the seconds hand which beats seconds. Wound through the white enamel dial with centre seconds, small chapter of Roman and Arabic numerals above and another for the date below, blue steel hands. Plain gilt consular case with large round pendant and bow.
