Index No. A7102 Silver Champleve Dial Verge
A late 17th Century English verge with silver champleve dial in silver and leather covered pair cases.  Deep full plate fire gilt movement, fine Egyptian pillars with pierced galleries above.  Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. Pierced and engraved cock with small mask close to the centre and large wings, pierced and engraved foot.  Plain gilt balance, silver regulator disc. Adjustable screwed in potence to the escape wheel.  Signed silver champleve dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, engraved gilt edge, blue steel beetle and poker hands.  Plain silver inner case with split bezel, silver pendant and ring bow.  Black leather covered outer case with silver bezels, decorative silver pique pins.

John Buschman, free of the Clockmakers Company 1692 - 1725.  He was of German origin born in Hagen.  The features of the watch bears evidence of its makers continental roots indicating it was one of his earlier examples produced in this country.
