Index No. A7025 Verge with Naval Scene in Underpainted Horn
A late 18th Century English verge in gilt metal and underpainted horn pair cases of a naval scene.  Full plate fire gilt movement with square baluster pillars.  Pierced and engraved cock, pierced and engraved foot and plate for the silver regulator disc. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, blue steel hands.  Gilt metal pair cases, the plain inner bearing the number corresponding to that on the movement.  The outer case covered in horn underpainted with a scene depicting a naval ship bearing the British red ensign and a sailor bidding his loved one farewell.
