Index No. A6826 Silver Slow Beating Lever by Yates
A 19th Century slow beating lever by Yates in a silver open face case.  Full plate gilt keywind fusee movement with dust cover.  Harrison's maintaining power. Engraved cock, blue steel Bosley regulator, compensation balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. English table roller lever escapement.  Signed white enamel dial with subsidiary seconds, Roman numerals, gilt hands. Plain silver open face case with gold hinges, a vacant shield shaped cartouche on the back cover,  maker's mark "SQ".

The case bears the mark of Samuel Quilliam who made many of Yates slow beat patent lever watches.  It also bears his number, 18680, which matches that stamped on the movement under the dial.  See "The Fusee Lever Watch" by Dr. Robert Kemp, pages 63 - 69.
