Index No. N7276 Quarter Repeating Silver Oignon
An early 18th Century french quarter repeating verge in a silver consular case.  Deep full plate fire gilt movement, slender Egyptian pillars with silver caps.  Fusee and chain with ratchet barrel setup between the plates.  Silver pierced and engraved bridge cock, plain gilt balance.  Small silver regulator disc lacking the steel retaining bridge. Push pendant quarter repeating employing a single steel hammer on a bell in the case. Fitted with a gilt metal and enamel cartouche dial for a single handed movement, Roman numerals, gilt hands.  Engraved silver consular case, the back pierced to allow the bell to sound clearly, square five joint hinge, push pendant with silver stirrup bow.  Unusual method of deadening the sound of the bell with a pin which can be depressed to touch the edge of the bell.
