An early 19th Century English detent chronometer in a gold open face case.  Full plate gilt keywind fusee movement with dust cover.  Harrison's maintaining power. Engraved cock with diamond endstone, polished steel regulator with bimetallic compensation curb. Plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Earnshaw type spring detent escapement, replaced escape wheel, pivots with endstones. The gold passing spring unusually pinned to the detent rather than the normal screw fitting.. Signed white enamel dial with subsidiary seconds, Roman numerals, blue steel hands.  Plain 18 carat open face case with attractive rectangular waist to the pendant, maker's mark "WB"

An interesting early 19th Century English chronometer.  The use of a bimetallic curb for the temperature compensation on a watch with this escapement is very unusual.
