Index No. A6523 Quadruple Cased Turkish Market Verge
A late 18th Century English verge made for the Turkish market in four cases.  Full plate fire gilt movement, small Egyptian pillars with pierced gallery.  Pierced and engraved cock bearing a crescent, pierced and engraved foot and plate for the silver regulator disc.  Signed white enamel dial with Turkish numerals, blue steel beetle and poker hands.  Matching plain silvered metal  pair cases, maker's mark "IR" and number corresponding to that on the movement.  Third case with silver bezel and covered in tortoiseshell decorated with silvered pique pins.  Fourth case carved from wood, lined with red velvet, simple steel hinge.
