Index No. A6403 French Oignon with Cartouche Dial
A fine late 17th Century French verge oignon with gilt and enamel cartouche dial in a gilt consular case.   Deep full plate fire gilt fusee movement.  Chased and engraved shield between the plates protecting the train from the chain,  slender Egyptian pillars.  Large gilt pierced and engraved bridge cock depicting two birds supporting a fleur-dis-lis, three arm steel balance with spiral blue steel hairspring.  Small silver regulator index under a blue steel bridge operating a visible steel rack.  Wound through the engraved gilt dial set with white enamel cartouches of black bordered blue Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes.  Engraved markings for the minutes and white enamel ring marked for the hours and quarters.  Fine blue steel beetle and poker hands.  Deep gilt metal consular case, the back decoratively chased and engraved, gilt pendant and ring bow.
