| A late 17th Century French verge oignon watch and ormolu and tortoiseshell stand for use as a clock. Deep full plate fire gilt movement with unusual composite pillars. These have a blue steel core surrounded by pierced tapering gilt collars with decorative silver finials at each end. One pillar
lacking the collars, possibly because it is close to the barrel. Fusee and chain. Pierced and engraved silver bridge cock, plain three arm steel balance. Large silver regulator with blue steel indicator. Engraved gilt metal dial with white enamel cartouches of Roman numerals for the hours and small cartouches of Arabic numerals for the minutes. Enamel hour ring marked in quarters. Fine blue steel hands, the watch wound through an aperture in the
dial. Unusual plain gilt metal consular case, gilt pendant and ring bow, glass bullseye crystal. The accompanying tortoiseshell and ormolu stand appears as a clock of the period when the watch is placed in it. Standing on four gilt feet the case has an arched door bordered and decorated with gilt metal. Surmounting the case a gilt representation of a cock.
