Index No. A6223 Underpainted Horn English Verge
A late 18th Century English verge in gilt metal pair cases, the outer covered in underpainted horn.  Full plate fire gilt movement with square baluster pillars.  Pierced and engraved cock, silver regulator disc. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, fine gold beetle and poker hands.  Gilt metal pair cases, the inner with number corresponding to that on the movement.  The outer covered in horn underpainted with an oval scene of a young woman resting her elbow on a ships anchor set within a gilt border.  The bezel and area surrounding the scene decorated with ferns.
