| A very rare and unusual 19th Century musical self striking clockwatch with steel double wheel duplex escapement in a gold open face case. Small gilt movement, the two going barrels and part of the going train under a pierced polished steel bridge. The larger of the barrels providing the power for
the combined musical and clockwatch train. Plain cock, polished steel coqueret , blue steel regulator, plain flat polished steel balance with spiral spring. Rare double wheel duplex escapement, polished steel escape wheels. Large polished steel locking roller and jewelled impulse pallet. Disc form of musical mechanism, unusually the pins operate on two sets of tines placed at 180 degrees. One set consists of 8 tines, the other 9. The
music always precedes the striking. At the hour the music plays for half the travel of the disc which continues driving the striking train to sound the number of hours on rectangular polished steel gongs. The lateral slide in the band is used to repeat the hours and quarters at will. When the slide is moved away from the pendant it winds the striking barrel and starts the music. This is followed by the hours and quarters struck on the gongs. If
the slide is moved further against greater resistance it winds the striking mainspring, which can also be wound as normal with a key. Engine turned gold dial with cartouches of Roman numerals, gold hands. Engine turned gold open face case, engine turned middle with repeat slide and button to open the back. Strike - Silent lever under the front bezel. Gilt cuvette with apertures for winding and hand set.
