Index No. A6132 Large Silver Quarter Repeater
A fine large early 19th Century French quarter repeater by the firm of Breguet with unusual dial in a silver open face case.  Full plate gilt fusee movement.  Finely pierced and engraved bridge cock with polished steel endstone, plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. The barrel bridges and ring for the cuvette decoratively engraved.  Silver regulator dial with gilt indicator.  Push pendant quarter repeating on two steel gongs. Unusual signed white enamel ring dial, the centre set with an engine turned, chased and engraved gilt circle pierced at the edge and protected by a glass. Arabic numerals, blue steel Breguet  hands. Substantial engine turned silver open face case with ribbed middle, signed gilt cuvette.

An attractive watch in fine condition.  Most verge watches of the period that are marked Breguet were falsely signed.  This example however probably was inspected and sold by the firm but not manufactured in their own workshops.
