Index No. A5822 Gold and Enamel English Pair Case
A small late 18th Century English verge in gold and enamel pair cases.  Full plate fire gilt movement with later brass cock.  Engraved plate for the silver regulator disc. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. White enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, gold beetle and poker hands.  Fine gold cases, the inner plain with maker's mark "MR" in a rectangle.  The gold engraved outer decorated with a polychrome enamel scene of a couple within an oval cartouche.  Surrounding the scene a band of light blue translucent enamel over an engine turned ground.  The edge of the back and bezel with a border of translucent red enamel dots in a white band.
