| A rare late 18th Century continental verge with polychrome automaton dial commemorating a battle in silver pair cases. Full plate gilt fusee movement. Pierced and engraved bridge cock with large paste endstone, plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Silver regulator dial. Round pillars.
Fully restored polychrome enamel dial depicting a battle, the small chapter of Arabic numerals above a small semi-circular aperture revealing the automaton. The text at the top of the dial reads "Bataille bei Areola geivonnen von Bonaparte d 16 Novber 1795" The dial depicts soldiers crossing a bridge from the left led by an officer carrying a flag on horseback. In the middle of the bridge the automaton shows more horsemen crossing as the watch runs. Fitted in later English
