Henry Harper, apprenticed 1654, free of the Clockmakers Company 1664 - died 1708.  This watch is a very early example of the use of a balance spring, the dial and case in the style of a watch made circa 1660.  It would probably have been contained in another case made only of leather, perhaps decorated with pique work.
