On the front the frame of the lyre in engraved gold and translucent red enamel over an engraved ground surrounding the blue centre; on the back the colours are reversed. The centre of the hinged front cover depicts a lyre and sheet music. On the back a small glazed aperture with a border of split pearls reveals the cock and the strings of the lyre a
represented by four twisted gold wires. The watch supported by a gold clip and two short gold and enamel chains.
