A fine early 20th Century Swiss lever in a gold open face case. High quality gilt split three quarter plate keyless movement with going barrel, frosted steel winding work. Plain cock with polished steel regulator, compensation balance with blue steel overcoil hairspring. Club foot lever escapement, escape pivots with endstones. Signed engine turned gilt dial with subsidiary seconds, Arabic numerals, blue steel Breguet hands. Plain 18 carat drum shaped open face case, the back set with a vacant circular silver cartouche. Maker's mark "SG" in an oval. The signed gold cuvette also marked: "Observatoire Nationale de Besancon - Bulletin de 1ere Classe".
