Index No. A5207 Rare French Night and Day Verge
A late 18th Century French verge with rare night and day calendar dial in a silver open face case. Full plate gilt fusee movement with signed sprung gilt dust cover. Bridge cock finely pierced and engraved in a spiral pattern, steel coqueret, plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Silver regulator dial with blue steel indicator. Pentagonal pillars. Fully restored signed enamel 24 hour dial with subsidiaries for date and phase of the moon. The top half of the dial with black Arabic numerals on a white ground and a small red depiction of the sun. The lower half with white Arabic numerals on a black ground and stars, a small depiction of the moon in red, gold hands. Plain silver open face case, maker's mark "PIB" in a diamond.
