| A very rare late 17th Century verge with glazed sides and cock in silver pair cases. Deep full plate fire gilt movement with three glazed panels acting as a dust ring. The panels secured by a pierced and engraved gilt ring with representations of pillars covering the plain pillars behind. The rear section by the barrel left plain but cut away to accommodate the fusee chain, worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. | A very rare and attractive watch. Surprisingly few watches were made with glazed sides. Their use allows the mechanism to be protected from dust and the probing fingers of their owners while still allowing it to be viewed. This example is in very fine condition and the only complete one we have been able to offer for sale. |
