Index No. A5017 Gold English Repousse Pair Case
An early 18th Century English verge with champleve dial in gold repousse pair cases. Full plate fire gilt movement with unusual turned and square baluster pillars. Fusee and chain with ratchet wheel barrel setup between the plates. Pierced and engraved cock with pierced and engraved foot. Plain steel balance, silver regulator disc. Signed gold champleve dial, arcaded minute ring, Roman and Arabic numerals, blue steel hands. Gold (probably 20 or 22 carat) pair cases. Plain inner with gold pendant and stirrup bow, split bezel, maker's mark "AB" below a crown. The outer case decorated in repousse work depicting two cherubs within offset rococo framework.
