Index No. A4902 Early French Gilt French Oignon with Cartouche Dial
A late 17th Century French verge oignon in a chased and engraved gilt metal case. Deep full plate fire gilt movement with turned baluster pillars. Fusee and chain. Large pierced and engraved gilt bridge cock, large plain three arm steel balance. Small silver regulator disc under a blue steel bridge, large pinion operating on a visible blue steel rack. Fitted with a contemporary engraved gilt metal dial with white enamel cartouches of blue Roman numerals, enamel hour ring marked in quarters. Later blue steel hand, the watch wound by the square through the centre of the hand. Gilt metal consular case profusely decorated and engraved, gilt pendant and ring bow.
