A late 17th Century French quarter repeating verge in a silver oignon case. Deep full plate fire gilt movement with slender Egyptian pillars. Fusee and chain, the barrel setup between the plates by a steel click with a long decorative tail. Silver pierced and engraved bridge cock. Silver regulator operating a visible blue steel rack. Push pendant quarter repeating on a bell in the back of the case, the single hammer unusually situated midway between the plates. Winding through the domed silver champleve dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, later blue steel beetle and poker hands. Plain silver consular case, the back engraved with concentric rings. Silver bow on an exposed steel push pendant.

ConditionCirca 1690
CaseVery good.
DialVery good. Diameter 58 mm
MovementVery good. Depth 21 mm
An early French watch by a provincial maker, his signature crudely engraved on the movement. The case although not pierced appears original and the bell, roughly turned, is much shallower than usual due to the unusual position of the single hammer.
