An 18th Century English verge in fine gold repousse pair cases and shagreen covered protective outer. Full plate fire gilt movement with square baluster pillars. Pierced and engraved cock, pierced and engraved foot and plate for the silver regulator disc. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. White enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, arcaded minute ring, blue steel beetle and poker hands. Plain gold inner case, decorative pendant and bow, maker's mark "IPC" in a rectangle. The finely chased and engraved outer 22 carat gold case depicting in high relief two figures wearing classical robes, a cherub between them, bordered by a rococo frame. Protective third gilt metal outer case covered in shagreen, decorated with gilt pique pins and glazed at the back to reveal the scene on the gold case.
