Index No. A4527 FINE 18th CENTURY GOLD REPOUSSE VERGE

A fine 18th Century verge in a gold repousse pair cases and glazed protective outer. Full plate fire gilt fusee movement with square pillars. Pierced and engraved bridge cock the table depicting a bust below a crown and two scythes. Silver regulator disc on a pierced and engraved plate. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. Signed white enamel dial with arcaded minute ring, Roman and Arabic numerals, pierced gilt hands. Plain gold inner, maker's mark "RP" in a rectangle, number matching the movement and London hallmarks. Finely chased and engraved gold (probably 22 carat) outer decorated with repousse, the scene depicting a group of four classical figures within a rococo frame. Protective third outer gilt metal case covered in green shagreen and gilt pique pins, glazed to reveal the back of the case.

In outstanding condition. The work on the outer repousse case shows no signs of wear.
