Index No. A4501 EARLY SILVER & ENAMEL MOCK PENDULUM VERGE

A late 17th Century English verge in a silver consular repousse case with an enamel portrait. Deep full plate fire gilt movement with four elaborately pierced pillars and fusee stop work. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. Engraved winged cock secured by two blue steel screws, semi-circular aperture in the table to reveal a circular bob on the steel balance. This can be seen oscillating as the movement runs imitating the pendulum of a clock. Blue steel disc on the regulator square, the index visible through below the bob. Signed silver champleve dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, blue steel beetle and poker hands. Converted silver consular case decorated with repousse work, a polychrome enamel portrait of a woman on the back.
