| A mid 18th Century Dutch verge with date indication in gold pair cases. Full plate fire gilt movement with square baluster pillars. Pierced and engraved bridge cock, pierced and engraved plate for the silver regulator disc. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. Plain three arm gilt balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. Signed white enamel dial with small circular aperture revealing the silver date ring. Arcaded minute ring, Roman and Arabic numerals, pierced gilt hands. Matching plain gold pair cases with Dutch hallmarks, later oval pendant and bow. | ||

| Dutch watches are rarely to be found in plain gold cases. Almost all were housed in silver cases, often with repousse decoration. They were regarded as being of inferior quality to English watches and therefore did not warrant gold cases. |
