Index No. A4230 LATE 18th CENTURY GOLD AND ENAMEL FRENCH CYLINDER

A slim late 18th Century French cylinder in a gold and enamel consular case. Unusual full plate gilt keywind movement with resting barrel under a bridge. Sector cock with polished steel coqueret, the plain three arm gilt balance set into the plate. Blue steel spiral hairspring. Polished steel cylinder, brass escape wheel. Winding through the signed white enamel dial with Roman numerals, fine pierced gold hands. Slim gold consular case, the front bezel opened by pressing a button in the enamelled rectangular pendant. Fully restored polychrome enamel, the bezels of translucent dark blue enamel, gilt and white decoration. On the back a finely painted scene of an alpine lake, two figures in the foreground, the sky a plain buff colour.
