Stackfreed watches are very rare. This is a particularly small example which has survived remarkably well. Only the dial and dial plate may have been replaced. However it is possible they are original but refinished due to a change in fashion. A very similar watch is in the Gschwind collection and is illustrated in the Dr. Geshwind's publication "Stackfreed 1540 - 1640", watch no.7.
