A mid 19th Century English fusee timepiece carriage clock in an engraved gilt case. Rectangular eight day brass keywind fusee movement, Harrison's maintaining power. Plain cock with polished steel regulator situated on the plate. Plain three arm steel balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. English table roller lever escapement. Signed white enamel dial with subsidiary seconds below the twelve, Roman numerals, blue steel hands. Gilt brass case with four gently tapering pillars surmounted by cupola shaped finials. Profusely engraved mask, side panels, top and folding handle. Glazed clip on bezel, plain rear door with sprung catch.
An early example of an English carriage clock. John Walker Chronometer maker, 1836 - 1880. Traded from various premises in Princes Street from 1836 to 1840, occupying number 40 in 1836 - 37. After 1840 he moved to 68 Cornhill.
