A very fine 19th Century English verge made for the Turkish market in gold and enamel pair cases with matching key. Small full plate fire gilt movement, small Egyptian pillars with pierced galleries. Pierced and engraved cock with diamond endstone, pierced and engraved foot, silver regulator disc with Turkish markings. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. Signed white enamel dial with Turkish numerals, gold beetle and poker hands. Very fine matching 18 carat gold and enamel pair cases and protective outer. Plain gold inner case with gold pendant and bow The outer case of gold and enamel, the two halves meeting at a scalloped edge, the meeting faces engraved in blue and translucent red enamel, as are the bezels. The finely painted polychrome enamel scene is set within a scalloped border of translucent red enamel. A ship is setting out to sea from a fortified port under a rose coloured sky painted in translucent enamel over engine turning which radiated from the centre to simulate the setting sun. Both cases hallmarked and the maker's mark "AN". Matching gold and enamel key.
