A 19th Century French cylinder in a very rare gem set bloodstone and gold case an bloodstone dial. Keywind gilt bar movement with suspended going barrel. Plain cock with polished steel regulator. plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Polished steel cylinder, steel escape wheel. Very unusual dial of polished bloodstone, the Roman numerals on white stone cartouches banded by thin gold wire. Diamonds set a the 5 minute markings, gilt Breguet hands. Small 18 carat open face case with ribbed middle, signed gold cuvette and a late dedication in the back lid. The back of the watch set with a polished bloodstone divided geometrically by gold wires and set with diamonds and rubies, a larger ruby at the centre.
A very rare and difficult technique used on the back of the case and the dial.
