An early 19^th Century Swiss quarter repeating verge in an unusual gem set gold case. Full plate gilt fusee movement. Finely pierced and engraved bridge cock with garnet endstone, plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Silver regulator dial with gilt indicator. Round pillars. Push pendant quarter repeating on two polished steel gongs. Engine turned gold dial with two concentric chapters of Roman numerals, blue steel hands. Unusual 18 carat case decorated with two colour gold applied to the matted ground and set with turquoise and rubies on the front cover and rubies on the back. The front cover has an aperture to reveal the smaller chapter ring. The larger chapter can only be seen when the cover is open. Small button in the band to open the back cover, gilt metal cuvette.
