Index No. A3923 GOLD UNDERPAINTED HORN VERGE

A late 18th Century English verge in a gold case and gilt metal outer decorated with underpainted horn. Full plate fire gilt movement with round pillars. Pierced and engraved cock, silver regulator disc. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. White enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, gold beetle and poker hands. Plain gold inner case with gold pendant and bow, maker's mark "IL" in a rectangle. The gilt outer covered in horn underpainted with a scene of a bearded man sitting on a stone bench holding out his arm for two birds.
