Index No. A3932 GOLD QUARTER REPEATING REPOUSSE

A fine early 18th Century English quarter repeating verge in gold repousse pair cases and a third gilt metal and leather protective outer. Full plate fire gilt movement with turned baluster pillars and signed gilt dust cover. Pierced and engraved silver cock, pierced and engraved foot and silver plate for the blued regulator disc. Diamond endstone in a polished steel setting. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. Plain three arm gilt balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. Push pendant quarter repeating on a bell in a the case. Purpose made early 19th Century gold English dial with applied gold Roman numerals, gold hands. Fine pierced and engraved 22 carat gold pair cases, the inner richly engraved bearing a portrait of a woman at the base. The substantial gold outer case also pierced and finely decorated with chased and engraved repousse work depicting a classical scene of a hunter, a woman and her dog with cupid hovering above. Gold pulse piece in the front bezel. Gilt metal protective outer case covered in black leather with copper pins.

A handsome watch. The repousse outer case is of a much heavier gauge of metal than most and is in unusually fine, unmarked condition. The protective outer case appears to have been used at all times.
