A 19th Century English Massey type three with Liverpool window jewelling in a gold open face case. Full plate gilt keywind fusee movement with dust cover. Harrison's maintaining power. Chased and engraved cock inscribed "Patent Detached", diamond endstone, blue steel Bosley regulator. Unusual plain three arm gilt and blue steel balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Large screwed in jewelling, including the fusee. Massey type three lever escapement. Gold engine turned dial the centre engraved with a scene of a fountain in a formal garden. Subsidiary seconds, applied gold Roman numerals, blue steel hands. Plain American 18 carat open face case with chased and engraved bezels, pendant and bow. Decoratively engraved gold inner dome, maker's mark "A C Benedict Bowfrey NY" and number corresponding to that on the movement.
