A fine early 18^th Century English quarter repeating verge in pierced and engraved silver pair cases. Deep full plate fire gilt movement, turned baluster pillars. The signed silver dust cover removed by sliding the unusual catch towards the centre of the movement. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. Pierced and engraved cock with mask, pierced and engraved foot. Plain gilt balance, silver regulator disc. Push pendant quarter repeating on a bell in the case, steel dumb touch piece. Signed silver champleve dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, blue steel beetle and poker hands. The silver pair cases both pierced and profusely decoratively engraved with masks, birds and foliage.
