A late 19^th Century Swiss quarter repeating automaton in a gold full hunter case. High quality keyless nickelled bar movement with going barrel, wolfs teeth winding work. Plain cock with polished steel regulator. compensation balance with blue steel overcoil hairspring. Gold train wheels, jewelled repeating train, escape and lever pivots with endstones. Club foot lever escapement. Slide quarter repeating on two polished steel gongs. Small central white enamel dial with subsidiary seconds below, blue Roman numerals and centre, gilt decoration, gilt hands. Polychrome enamel scene of two figures who appear to strike the bells when the repeat mechanism sounds. Engine turned 18 carat gold full hunter case, ribbed middle, gold repeat slide.
