Index No. M5006 Early Verge Quarter Repeater Movement
An early 18th Century quarter repeating verge fitted in a tortoiseshell covered gilt metal consular case. Deep full plate fire gilt movement with signed and numbered gilt dust cover. Five turned baluster pillars. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. Later pierced and engraved cock. Plain steel balance, silver regulator disc. Push pendant quarter repeating on blocks in the case. Signed gilt champleve dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, later blue steel hands. Fitted in a contemporary tortoiseshell covered gilt metal consular case, the back with two apertures, one with a movable shutter for the winding square, the other aligned with the regulator square and permanently covered.
