An early 19th Century English verge with a painted enamel dial in silver pair cases. Full plate fusee movement with round pillars. Pierced and engraved round cock, polished steel regulator on top plate below the plain three arm steel balance. Flat white enamel dial with Roman numerals, gold hands. In the centre a well painted polychrome rural scene of two horses pulling a plough across a field. In the background a church and stream, the words "Speed the Plough" above. Matching silver pair cases, silver pendant and bow. Maker's mark "G*C"
