| A large late 19th Century English perpetual calendar lever movement with Nicole Nielsen patent winding. Gilt three quarter plate keyless movement with going barrel. Plain cock with polished steel regulator, compensation balance with blue steel overcoil hairspring. English table roller lever escapement, escape and lever pivots with endstones. Signed and numbered white enamel dial with subsidiaries for day and date and month, Roman numerals. At six o'clock a gold and enamel disc showing phases of the moon At nine o'clock a subsidiary showing continuous seconds and day. The months of four years "1st Year -2nd Year - 3rd Year - Leap Year at twelve o'clock". | ||

| An unusual movement retailed by Dent but made by the firm of Nicole Nielsen who manufactured for many of the eminent watchmaking firms in the second half of the 19th Century. Adolphe Nicole took out the patent for keyless winding in 1844. It is marked "Partly Swiss" referring to the perpetual calendar which would have been purchased by Nicole Nielsen as a complete mechanical assembly. |
