Index No. M6401 Unusual English Verge Movement
An unusual early 19th Century English full plate verge fusee.  Pierced and engraved bridge cock.  Gilt regulator on top plate below the plain three arm steel balance unusually with a steel wheel to adjust it which extends past the plate. White enamel dial with Arabic numerals, gold hands.
SignedJno Forster    Shererness
Circa 1810
Excellent, working.
Diameter 48.5 mm
It is very uncommon to find English watches with a bridge cock.  The addition of the steel wheel to adjust the regulator is even more unusual.  It may have extended through the case to allow the watch to be regulated by it, used as a thumbwheel.
