Index No. M5005 Early French Coachwatch Movement
An unsual large mid 17th Century hour striking and alarm French verge coachwatch movement. Large fire gilt plates with five turned baluster pillars. Fusee with blue steel barrel setup ratchet on the plate with a large elaborately pierced and engraved gilt click. Pierced and engraved cock, now fixed by a single screw. Steel balance three arm balance, later silver regulator disc. Unmarked (possibly later) brass countwheel, decoratively pierced and engraved resting barrel to the hour striking clockwatch. Third train for the alarm operating a large semi-circular double ended hammer.

Very good. Converted to balance spring, staff broken. At one time fitted into a clock with attendant alterations to the dial plate. Lacking dial and hands.
