Index No. A3842 QUARTER REPEATING AUSTRIAN TABLE CLOCK

A small early 18th Century quarter repeating Austrian verge hexagonal table clock. Full plate hexagonal fire gilt movement with six turned baluster pillars. Pierced and engraved masked cock, pierced and engraved foot and plate for the regulator disc, engraved border at the edge of the plate. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. Quarter repeating on a bell in the base by two gilt hammers decoratively engraved with dragon masks. Purpose made white enamel dial with Roman numerals, blue steel beetle and poker hands. Hexagonal gilt metal case with shaped top and base. Glazed on all sides, the bevelled crystals secured by cartouche shaped frames. Hinge base holding the bell, blue steel spring catch, supported by alternating scroll and foliate feet.
